Liveaboard (safari) on OCEAN DREAM from 30.04-07.05 2011

It has already been 2 weeks since our safari on Ocean Dream and I
finally found some time to inform you, my dear readers, how it went.

baracuda1 A group of divers from Russia arrived to Sharm 2 days in advance. They
had a plenty of time to accommodate to “Egyptian climate” and to get
ready for the “Big adventure”. ramla
The first night we were forced to spend in port- Travco, because as usual, the police didn’t let us
sail out. The next day we started at Ras Katy, the ultimate “check
dives” divesite. Here, everyone adjusted their weights and made a couple
of “handy” exercises underwater :-)
For the next few days we made more than 20 dives (because almost everybody dived on Nitrox) and visited areas such as – Strait of Tiran, Ras Mohammad, Shaab
Mahmoud, Shaab Ali. The most famous dive sites we visited were: Jackson reef,
Thomas reef, Shark and Yolanda, Jackfish alley, The”Ramla”, Shaab
Danab etc. From the wrecks we dived S. S. Thistlegorm, Dunraven, Empress Fraser.
Some of the divers chose to pass PADI courses to get more knowledge and
experiences. We even had one Divemaster candidate, who gained a lot of
practical experiences on this trip. delfiny
On the top of the “usual stuff” such as diving and a close encounter
with a shark, we were lucky enough to experience some swimming with
dolphins and a walk on an uninhabited sandy island in the middle of the
sea. It was very nice, we could, even if only for a short time, experience how Robinson Crusoe might have felt. We saved from certain death a lonely Seagull that was fully covered
in sticky black oil.

After a careful cleaning and some
refreshment (a courtesy of Ocean Dream crew), we send her flying to
join her friends high in the sky. :-)
The end of safari comes quickly when you have a good time and
we also had to say goodbye at the end. Everybody was leaving equipped with a nice sunburn,
salty skin, nitrogen to spare and some exiting experiences. They seemed to be sad to leave. I told them not to worry, because we shall see each other very soon. :-) And we shall.

I am looking forward to new safaris with all of you, dear divers!!!group-foto
